[07:10:10] <Daanct12> just installed the pacman key for this port
[07:10:13] <Daanct12> very nice
[07:10:33] <solskogen|M1> Cool!
[07:10:51] <solskogen|M1> But even with that, you just have to trust us ;-)
[07:10:55] <Daanct12> hi solskogen|M1 ! how's the port going and have you tried building packages for armv8.0?
[07:11:13] <Daanct12> solskogen|M1: ofc i was expecting someone to turn my computer into a botnet
[07:11:17] <Daanct12> xD
[07:11:48] <solskogen|M1> Yes - and some of the packages that did fail earlier don't fail any more. It still uses v8.2-a by default. We have to discuss it :-)
[07:12:04] <Daanct12> mhmm
[07:12:18] <Daanct12> maybe our toolchain got patched?
[07:12:42] <Daanct12> because i'm pretty sure armv8.0 is popular enough for someone to catch gcc bugs
[07:14:02] <solskogen|M1> well, it's gonna happen again sooner or later, that the problem. And I will argue that it doesn't make sense to add a port for Arch that are for 15 year old SBCs.
[07:15:36] <noahimesaka1873|> solskogen|M1: there's quite a few new devices with A53 tho
[07:15:51] <solskogen|M1> or 15 year old cpus :-)
[07:16:20] <noahimesaka1873|> but manufactured to this day with more modern lithography too!
[07:17:19] <Daanct12> yeah i just don't think that a53 will go away anytime soon..
[07:17:34] <Daanct12> as much i hate supporting old stuffs i feel like this should be an exception :P
[07:19:57] <Daanct12> noahimesaka1873|: one of my phone soc is from 2021 and it has 4x a73 and 4x a53 in it :P
[07:20:19] <Daanct12> from qualcomm wooo
[07:22:06] <solskogen|M1> in theory we can have both
[07:27:37] <solskogen|M1> I just think that we miss out on a lot of the benefits for those on 8.2 or higher. (I've got a ARMv9.2 board!)
[07:28:24] <Daanct12> oooh
[07:28:43] <Daanct12> i guess armv9.2 board is some CIX board?
[07:29:22] <solskogen|M1> Correct. This is a newer (and smaller and cheaper version of it) https://radxa.com
[07:29:23] <phrik> Title: Orion O6N (at radxa.com)
[07:29:47] <noahimesaka1873|> M1's just v8.4
[07:30:11] <noahimesaka1873|> M2's v8.6 eh
[07:33:23] <Daanct12> i wanna build a laptop from this
